General Size Guide & FAQ's
Size guide
One garment, multiple sizes.
Every Petit Pli piece is engineered to fit through five to seven conventional sizes. The charts below tell you which Petit Pli size matches your child's age and height. If you're between sizes, size up to get the most use out of the garment.
Size charts
All measurements in cm. Refer to the chart that matches the garment you're buying.
How Petit Pli sizing works
Conventional childrenswear is sized for a single age window: 12-18 months, 2-3 years, and so on. The garment fits for a few months, then your child grows out of it.
Petit Pli works differently. The pleated structure expands in multiple directions as your child grows. One Petit Pli size covers a span of conventional sizes, typically five to seven of them, depending on the garment.
So instead of buying a new size every few months, you're buying one piece that fits for years.
Match the age first
Find your child's age range on the chart for the garment you want. That's your Petit Pli size.
Check the height
Cross-reference your child's height. Most children sit comfortably inside the range.
Between sizes? Size up.
You'll get more use out of the garment as your child grows into it.
Adjusting the fit
The pleats handle width. You handle length.
The garment's structure adapts to width automatically. Adjustment tabs on the cuffs and waistband let you fine-tune the length to where your child is today. As they grow, you let the tab out.
Most parents start the garment with the tabs fully tucked, then release a notch every few months. By the time your child is at the top of the size range, the tabs are fully extended and the garment is at its full length.
A note on the Knot-Tile® range
Our merino wool range uses the same age-based sizing, but the auxetic knit structure stretches more freely than the pleated ranges. If you're choosing between two sizes for a Knot-Tile® piece, the smaller size will often feel snug at first and grow into a comfortable fit faster. The larger size gives you more total wear time.
