If you’re a parent or soon-to-be new mum or dad, you probably have heard of Mini Me — dressing you and your LittleHuman in matching clothing.

But you may be wondering, when and how did this worldwide phenomenon even begin?

History of the Mini-Me

With its origins tracing back all the way to 1908, Mini-Me began in no other than the fashion capital: Paris, France.

Esteemed French fashion designer, Jeanne Lanvin, realized after giving birth to her daughter, Marguerite, that there was a gap in the marketplace — one which particularly created a sizable gap in the children’s fashion market. In particular, she noticed that there was no high-end line for children’s clothes. So, with the desire to debut an entirely new market for children’s fashion, Lanvin created a high-end children’s line that was launched in 1908.

What was so intriguing about her new line was that she had created matching mother-and-daughter clothing. Using the same fabrics and designs as her womenswear line, Lanvin created matching clothing for children and to launch her campaign, Lanvin and her daughter, Marguerite modeled the Mini-Me clothing line.

Petit Pli’s New Line of Mini-Me Foldwear

As a company focusing on childrenswear, while also offering adult fashion, a Petit Pli Mini-Me collection simply had to be introduced.

Our famous foldwear bottoms for adults have encountered a new sidekick: matching bottoms for Tiny, Mini, and LittleHumans alike.
