What is Petit Pli?
We invented clothes that grow with children. Shortly after Viggo was born, his uncle Ryan gifted him clothes, but by the time they arrived they were already too small.
This served as a signal: childrenswear today fails to recognise the dynamic and rapidly changing bodies of Earth’s LittleHumans. Inspired by his background in deployable satellite technology, Ryan created a garment that would grow with his nephew, reducing water and carbon footprints, and the need to keep buying new clothes. Soon after, Petit Pli was born and Clothes That Grow went on to win multiple awards, starting a sustainable childrenswear revolution. Petit Pli is redefining sustainable children’s clothing in 2026.
How do clothes grow?
At Petit Pli, growth is designed into every garment.
Inspired by deployable structures used in satellites, we apply aerospace engineering and origami principles to create fabrics that expand in multiple directions. Through precisely engineered pleats, each piece stretches and contracts with the child, adapting naturally as they grow.
This means one garment can fit across up to seven sizes, moving with the body rather than restricting it. No adjustments, no replacements, just clothing that evolves over time.
Every design is tested against what we call the Mars Test. If something is going with you to the red planet, it needs to be versatile, durable, lightweight, and built to last. That same thinking shapes everything we create.
Our best-selling ranges bring this to life. The Versatile range champions circularity through recycled materials, transforming PET bottles into a durable Ripstop fabric that is lightweight, rain-resistant, Oeko-Tex® certified, and machine washable. Alongside it, our merino wool range offers a natural, breathable alternative, engineered to regulate temperature while growing with the child, combining softness, performance, and longevity in equal measure.

In 2017, Ryan won the UK James Dyson Award for his innovation. Sir James Dyson stated, “Petit Pli intelligently applies engineering to the tactile and fashion industry to create a unique and compelling invention that addresses a global problem."
A year after, the company expanded to tackle the growing demands of commercialisation. Petit Pli quickly gained momentum winning multiple design awards, including: Dezeen’s Wearable design of the year 2018, became the first UK-based brand to win the H&M Foundation Global Change Award in 2019 and the Best of the Best: Red Dot Product Design Award in 2019.
