We like to do things differently—this time, the art is the garment. Now, with Petit Pli, his print has directly inspired a garment for the first time.

So, why "Robot Art"? Well, Arnaud’s process is a fascinating blend of human imagination and robotic precision. He begins each design digitally, then hands it over to a robot that picks up a felt-tip pen and brings the design to life on paper. The robot’s movement is precise, yet the ink fades and deepens unpredictably, adding a uniquely human touch. Print Robot Art is not only a tribute to creativity but also to the digital connections that make it possible.

About the Print and Illustrations for Petit Pli

AP: For this collection, I focused on pleating patterns. — Each design starts digitally, then I bring it to life with a drawing machine holding a felt-tip pen. While the pattern is geometrically perfect, the pen’s ink fades and deepens unpredictably, adding an analogue texture that resembles traditional drawing.

Reflecting on Childhood and Creativity

AP: As a child, I felt anything was possible. Growing up surrounded by adults working with their hands—tinkering, cooking, sewing—made the world feel like a boundless playground, a feeling I still carry.

His advice for young artists?

AP: Find joy in creating. When art feels like play, learning new techniques and expressing yourself comes naturally.

What LittleHumans Teach Us

AP: I’m inspired by how children find wonder in simple things, like shapes or colors. They remind me to keep appreciating the magic everyday.
